Construction Safety Center's Safety Excellence Awards

To commemorate the Construction Safety Council's 20th Anniversary, an awards banquet will be introduced at the 20th Annual Construction Safety Conference & Expo, February 17th, 2010. The program is designed to recognize outstanding efforts in construction safety and health and proactive contractors who put employee training as their number one priority. Construction Safety Center Awards include those for outstanding efforts, hero awards for lives saved using interventions learned though training received, and a Raising the Bar award sponsored by Construction Risk Management.

Other awards will include the Robert M. Farrell Award presented by the Construction Safety Association, and the John Maronic Memorial Federal Safety and Health Professional Award.

In addition to these awards, there will be the induction of an individual into the Safety and Health Hall of Fame International.

Several scholarships will be given out to students enrolled in construction safety programs.

List of Awards:

Student Scholarships - given to students in safety and health undergraduate programs.

Construction Safety Center Outstanding Training Efforts - given to an organization who has been proactive about training and has had employees attend multiple Construction Safety Council classes.

Construction Safety Center Hero Award - given to an individual who has saved a life or performed a life saving act after receiving training at the Construction Safety Center.

Construction Safety Center Survivor Award - given to an individual, who is with us today because he/she acted on the training received directly or indirectly at the Construction Training Councils by wearing PPE, Fall Protection, etc.

Construction Safety Association - Robert M Farrell Award - given to an individual who meets criteria set forth by CSA and is selected by that organization.

John Maronic Memorial Federal Safety Professional of the Year - presented annually to recognize the efforts that person(s) has made to help protect workers and meet the intent of the OSHA Act.

Raising the Bar Award - given to one person, company, labor union or trade association annually to recognize safety and health activities over and above meeting regulatory compliance.

Safety and Health Hall of Fame Internation Induction (SHHOFI) - SHHOFI was started by the Veterans of Safety organization in 1985 to recognize individuals whose lives have been dedicated to reducing unintentional injuries and illnesses domestically and/or internationally. From Ramazzini to Heimlich, inductees represent the apex of service to makind through contributions to saving lives and improving health whether on or off the job.
