This 4 hour class will cover the health hazards typically encountered in construction.  The topics will include: Asbestos; the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs), the ACGIH Threshold Limit Values (TLVs) and the NIOSH Recommended Exposure Limits (RELs); Lead; Silica; Portland cement and Hexavalent Chromium; Metal Fumes from Welding & Cutting; and Exhaust Gases from Motor Vehicles.  Each student will receive the following certificates after completing this class: Asbestos Awareness, Lead Hazard Awareness, and Silica Hazard Awareness.  Discussion will also include OSHA’s national and local emphasis programs on Lead, Silica and Portland cement.
