The OSHA #7400 - Noise in the Construction Industry course is designed to increase participant's knowledge and skill in construction noise and provide materials and guidance for training workers on the jobsite. OSHA published an Advanced Notice for Proposed Rulemaking, Hearing Conservation Program for Construction Workers. This course builds on OSHA's efforts to reduce occupational hearing loss in the construction industry. Topics include OSHA Construction Noise Standards, Properties of sound, Noise-induced hearing loss, Noise exposure control, Selection and use of hearing protection, Conducting sound level surveys and Worker training.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- State the properties of sound and its relationship to noise-induced hearing loss
- Properly use hearing protection
- Conduct sound level surveys and requirements for training workers
