NOTE: This class is held in a Virtual Classroom using Zoom video teleconferencing. It will be a live, interactive, virtual class delivered over a teleconferncing platform. The instructor will teach live and you will be required to actively participate. A webcam, audio capabilities, and unique email address is required. Registration closes 48 hours before the class date. Once registration closes, you will receive email instructions for your classroom session. The Excavation Safety for the Competent Person course is designed to educate workers about the hazards associated with trenching and excavation work. Participants will be able to identify potential hazards and what steps can be taken to avoid unsafe conditions. Participants will learn OSHA Competent Person requirements for excavations, soil analysis, how to choose protective systems, and general jobsite hazard awareness.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify common excavation hazards
- State competent person requirements
- List appropriate PPE
- State steps to avoid unsafe conditions
Language: This course is taught in English.
Target Audience: Any worker acting as the Competent Person on the jobsite, those performing safety and health evaluations or training, site supervisors, and those interested in learning about Excavation safety.
